Jodhpur

Dear Mother,

Today the unit arrived at our next posting in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. If I thought I knew heat before I was sadly mistaken. I now resemble more a sweaty yak than a British soldier. Speaking of yaks, you can hardly move for the sacred cows wandering here there and everywhere. It's a wonder anyone arrives at their intended destination. Animals aside, The Jodhpur Fort is truly the jewel in the crown of this magnificent region. Strong and imposing yet also possessing a beautiful fragility, I assume it stops intruders in their path due to their being awestruck at its beauty rather than because of intimidation from its solid walls. There is beauty in all corners of this magnificent country and one never knows what delights will be discovered in their next day.
